In Hebrew, Lena means “light.” I thought that was particularly fitting. When Lena is much older, she’ll like knowing that her name means “alluring” in Latin, but for now, I kind of like thinking of her as a little light shining in our lives.

Korrina asked me to log in and update you because her Internet connection hasn’t been great at the hospital. She’ll post an update as soon as she has a reliable connection.

Lena had been scheduled for surgery Friday morning to flush out the infection, but by Thursday afternoon, her infection was raging. Her white cell counts had gone up drastically (10x or so) in the 3 days prior and she was having seizures - not the epileptic variety, but where her heart beat too fast and breathing got too shallow - so they did the surgery late Thursday night.

I know that the doctors found another cyst, which they lanced and drained. I also know that the surgery was a success in that the infection is gone and now she just needs to heal. Korrina will be able to do a better job of details if she wants to. 

The important part, at least to me, is that like the little trooper she is, Lena came through with flying colors. She’s recovering, giving those flirty little smiles and talking baby talk to her stuffed animals.

You know… Kassie is a little replica of her Mommy. Looks just like her mommy did as a baby. Lena… Lena has her Mommy’s spirit, and then some. And her spirit and personality shine bright. Now however did her Mommy know that in advance and name her so perfectly?
