Sleep, What’s Sleep?
My lovely, very cute and adorable girls (mostly Kassie) have decided that sleep is for the birds. After getting me used to at least 6 consecutive hours of sleep (they slept more, I just went to bed later) at night it has been decided that I am too well rested and need to be dragged out of bed in the wee hours of the morning for a snack and a cuddle. No I’m not bitter just tired.
For at least 6 weeks Kassie slept about 10 hours, great. Lena caught on to this sleep program about a month ago. However in the last 2 weeks one or the other or both (these nights I think Kassie wakes her sister) get up somewhere between 3am and 5am. I know what you all are going to say, "try keep them up longer", "feed them right before bed", "give them solids". Tried it all. When these girls are ready to go down for the night there is nothing you can do, short of pulling your hair out, to keep them up. They get so cranky that it’s all I can do to keep myself together long enough to get them to bed never mind enduring the torture for another our or two (though I don’t think they would last they would probably scream themselves to sleep). I do feed them right before bed, always have, full bellies sleep longer and they fall asleep much better. Solids, tried that last night, thought I was going to have a great night, Kassie ate lots (for her), and I had the worst night in weeks. Its official, this weekend, I am taking a night off, Wayne is officially on night duty. Watch on his night they’ll decide that’s the night to try the sleep for 10 solid hours thing again. Not bitter just tired.
Nap during the day you say? Ever had twins? They don’t always sleep at the same time. In fact there are some days when I constantly have a baby on my hip. One falls asleep the other wakes up, all day long. To top it all off, Lena is the world’s greatest power napper. I tell you that kids will sleep for 20-40 minutes and be totally recharged. I wish.
Here’s hoping that in my delirious state I am able to accomplish everything I need to today. I had such a productive day yesterday. We even got our tummy time and stretches in before Wayne got home from work. Hope it carries through the rest of the week.

Your girls are beautiful! I had twin boys in June 2004 at 24 weeks and 3 days. We lost Noah at 12 days old, Nathan had a 77 day NICU stay before coming home with us.He is pretty healthy now at 3.
Anyways just wanted to say HI and say how precious your babies are!
