Giving Thanks - A Little Late

Thanksgiving

Thanksgiving

Thanksgiving here in Canada was Monday, exactly one week after we came home from the hospital. We had a quiet dinner together as a family, just us. I cooked a turkey etc and we all had a nice meal together, thankful that we could be together.

Some of the people I am thankful for:

My girls - I am thankful that they were spared, we were told that they would not live a week. They are almost one, and doing great considering they were born 16 weeks too early. I could not imagine my life without them, I love them so very much.

My husband - Though the last year has been hard on us both, I don’t know how I could have made it through without him, he is my soul mate, my lover and my best friend.

My parents - They have been there for me, for us, every step of the way. I don’t know what we would have done without them in the last year. They have fed us, consoled us, picked us up when we felt like we had hit rock bottom, been our rocks and shoulder to lean on countless times.

My friends - You know who you are. So many of you have helped us on so many different ways, from food to shoulders and ears to countless boxes of matching  twin girl clothes.

My family - The “big kids” have been great through out all of the hard times, understanding that we just needed to be there for the girls and loving them so very much now that they are home. Some of our extended family have gone above and beyond the call of duty to help us out, comfort us and find us inspiration when we needed a pick me up.

My blog buddies - Though I have never met any of you, your thoughts and prayers have helped more than you know. Thanks to all of you who are brave enough to take time out of your day to blog about your children, the stories and pictures give me inspiration and so so much help and information.

GOD - Without God I know we wouldn’t have made it through this last year. I have never prayed more than I did all those days in the NICU and during all of the surgeries we have endured. I continue to pray for the girls’ future. Without miracles our girls would not be here today, they would not have a future.

Our Medical Team - This group includes many many people, from the NICU doctors and nurses to our awesome family doctor to our amazing neurosurgeon to our wonderful therapy team. So many people have helped us care for our girls and continue to care for them. I don’t know what we would do without them.
