Forms Forms and More Forms
We have been going to PT and OT since we came home from the hospital in February, apparently we were supposed to have filled out a history and consent form in the beginning. The secretary swears we would have got one and that I must have misplaced it, I didn’t. I got the forms in the mail the other day, I’ve never seen them before, its a book. I would remember these forms, nope, didn’t get them.
So last night I settled in with a cup of gourmet coffee to fill out these books, figured it was a good thing to get done before our big 6 month review on the 10th (nervous). I know that the more they know about the girls and their family history, the easier is it to help them, but oh my God. They might as well have asked me which method I use to wash and fold laundry because I think it was the only question not in there. Cripes I answered everything from Did you smoke, drink etc while pregnant? to If the parents of your children are blood relatives, how are they related (ex, cousins)? Are there really that many people out there that marry close family members that this question is warranted?
Paper work and preemies, it never ends. Never mind two preemies. Between keeping up with all of their appointments and schedules etc, I needed to buy a special day planner that had room for my schedule and theirs. This doesn’t include all of the medical info one must know in case of emergency, so that when the triage nurse asks you, " Any medical problems?" expecting a no, you can accurately give her/him the reader’s digest version of their 4 months stay in the NICU and in Lena’s case afterward as well. Yikes good thing I am interested in all this medical stuff being a nursing student, understanding what they are asking/telling you always helps. I couldn’t imagine trying to remember all this stuff if I didn’t understand it. To those of you who don’t, my advise, write it down. You won’t be able to think in an emergency.
