And then there were four…
So… I found Buddy’s (his name is actually Duke) owners. Yesterday morning I got a hold of the Edmonton SPCA and they gave me the name and number to the lady that registered the dog there. So I tried the number and her name was still on the answering machine. I left a detailed message hoping someone was checking the messages. Around 3pm I got a call from a man who said I had his dog. Apparently the dog used to live in Edmonton and was given to a family that lives about one mile east of our place. He hadn’t had any place to run in Edmonton so he was relocated to a farm here. The man went on to tell me that he doesn’t put up with his dogs wandering out of the yard and that when he picked him up he was going to destroy him. So I told him to leave him right were he was. He was happy and getting along with our dogs just fine. He is a very nice dog, obedient and gentle. His only hang ups are that he desperately wants to sleep in the house and that he howls when he barks. I keep telling him sleeping outside is much better than a bullet. He’ll figure it out soon I’m sure. As for the howling, we’ll have to get used to that.
I still can’t get over the fact that this guy was going to shoot his dog just for leaving the yard. Who knows why he left, maybe he chased something out of the yard or got scared by something. Some people just have no respect for life.
